Packaging & Sustainability at The Wild Cauldron
Last Updated: 16th July 2025
At The Wild Cauldron, we’re returning to our eco-conscious roots.
After receiving heartfelt feedback from past brand reps and many of our wonderful customers, we've decided to move away from less eco-friendly packaging and step back into alignment with our original values; blending sustainability, practicality, and magical intention in every order.
Herbs, Resins & Ritual Product Packaging
We’ve made some meaningful changes:
-
Incense Resins are now packaged in paper seed envelopes.
-
Our dried herbs, roots, and flowers are now packaged in biodegradable cellophane bags made from cellulose—an eco-friendly alternative to plastic. Derived from renewable sources like wood pulp, cotton, or hemp, this NatureFlex™ film is certified compostable to both European (EN13432) and American (ASTM D6400) standards, as well as the OK Compost Home certification by Vincotte.
These food-grade bags are commonly used for dried foods, confectionery, and personal care items, and help maintain freshness while being gentle on the planet. They are compostable, tearable by hand, and suitable for both home and industrial composting.
To preserve freshness, we recommend transferring herbs to your own jars or airtight containers upon arrival. When stored in a cool, dry place, herbs in their original packaging will stay fresh for up to 6 months.
-
Occasionally, we may also use glassine or paper bags or mini boxes for herb, roots, or flowers.
-
Incense Mixes continue to be packaged in reusable screw-top tins.
-
Magical Oils are bottled in glass dropper bottles, although we will soon transition back to dripolator caps, once our current stock of droppers is depleted.
-
Spell Kits are now packaged in paper bags, cotton bags or boxes, with all included herbs and ingredients packed in glassine bags instead of plastic.
-
Bath Salts remain in plastic Mylar bags for now, until we transition to our new Cylinder Boxes.
-
Witch Powders are still in small plastic zip-lock bags, until we transition to the Biodegradable Cello Bags.
-
Witch Salts are housed in glass bottles, adding a traditional and reusable touch.
-
All our labels are printed in-house using a laser printer. We are gradually moving toward compostable labels for an even greener finish.
Shipping Packaging
We’ve fully phased out plastic bubble wrap in favour of:
-
Ranpak (honeycomb paper wrap) to cushion your items safely and sustainably.
-
Tissue paper for added padding and presentation.
-
Biodegradable Packing Peanuts (Envirofill) – completely compostable and dissolvable in water.
-
Shipping Labels from Hero Packaging – their HEROLABELs are 100% compostable, made with natural adhesive and zero plastic.
-
Printed using our HERO Thermal Printer (HZD950-PRO), which also helps us print some of our product labels.
-
If we need to use mailers, we choose Black Home Compostable HEROPACK Mailers or HEROBUBBLE Mailers.
-
For small, flat orders, we may use prepaid Australia Post DL envelopes for efficiency and reduced waste.
